IONclad is Ian Davis (shhhh)

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia sometime before the computer age. I always knew art was my thing. I studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design which to me seemed like the next logical step from high school. At NSCAD I discovered computer design, then computer graphics, then, computer animation. My fate was sealed the first moment I saw my very first flying logo.

My love affair with 3D graphics began in college when I was first exposed to computer animation and very idea of editing photoreality with a computer was introduced to my world. This was in 1989 when the idea of a big hard drive was 20 megabytes and people who knew about the internet were kinda freakish. I was present at the birth of the computer graphics and art realm, it was really amazing. My first computer was a mac. A quadra 610 to be exact. This model was cool due to it’s FPU, or floating point unit, making it capable of running some 3D applications like Alias Sketch. In those days I worked really hard to squeeze all the rendering power I could out of my 22mhz computer with 4 MB of RAM. Looking back I’m just stunned at how patient I was and what I actually accomplished.
